Proceeded overseas to France, 26 January 1918; joined Bn, in the field, 24 February 1918, and posted to B Company.

Wounded in action, 29 March 1918 (gun shot wound, left upper arm); admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 30 March 1918, and transferred to 56th Casualty Clearing Station; to 24th General Hospital, Etaples, 1 April 1918; discharged to Base Depot, 10 April 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 15 April 1918.

Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 17 May 1918 (tonsillitis); rejoined Bn, in the field, 20 May 1918.

Killed in action, 18 August 1918.
