Military Medal 'Action before Favreuil north of Bapaume on 25th August 1918 and on subsequent days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 25th August 1918 and on subsequent days he was in charge of a Bearer Relay Post. During that time he supervised the evacuation of the wounded from an area subject to continuous hostile shell fire, so severe as to render the main road impassable. He then reconnoitred and established a new route, and so kept the work of evacuating wounded in progress. His fearless and skilful work was a splendid example to the
stretcher bearers under his charge.'
