Military Medal

'Operations Gravenstafel - 1st October to 5th October 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 2nd October 1917, in the Sector east of Ypres, Private Edward William Pullar was acting as a Company Runner. On the day referred to, this runner, in clear daylight, while under heavy shellfire and while being sniped at by the enemy, to an urgent message to the Front Line over open ground, (there being no communication trenches) and returned to Company Headquarters. Immediately afterwards he carried an urgent report back again 500 yards across the open ground through heavy enemy shellfire.'
