Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. Near Colincamps on the 27th March 1918 during a counter attack by his company he showed great courage and resource, and on the capture of the position took charge of a German machine gun and turning it on to the retreating enemy inflicted it on to the retreating enemy inflicted considerable damage amongst them. He kept the gun in action with but little assistance for six hours longer until his Company was relieved.'
