Military Cross When his company commander was killed and the men had suffered severe losses from artillery and machine-gun fire, he took command at a critical stage of the attack. He kept the men together with great coolness and gallantry, and resolutely pushing forward, reached the objective, and consolidated. He displayed great judgement and ability and complete disregard of personal safety. Recommendation date: Military Medal This NCO on the 8th August 1915, on Chunuk Bair in Gallipoli, although wounded himself, took charge of a large party of English Troops who were evacuating a trench. He rallied them and kept them in the trench, which was an important one and well forward. He controlled them until some hours later, when relief came. At one period Sgt Price only kept the men in the trench by threatening to shoot the first man who attempted to get out. Throughout the whole time the party were under a very hot fire from the Turks.
