Military Medal 'This non commissioned officer performed exceptionally good work in the taking of the Switch Trench on the 15th September 1916, and in helping to consolidate same. After his officers became casualties he took command of his platoon, and
during the whole day showed great coolness and initiative under heavy shell fire.'
