Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry on 11th October, 1917, near St Julien. He saw from a distance a shell strike a team drawing his gun and went to the assistance of the wounded officer in charge (2nd Lieut Park) and men. When 2nd Lieut Park collapsed, Corporal Pope took charge of the party, got his gun into action and
team away to safety.'
