Medals

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 29th September 1918, in operations about Bon Avis Ridge, this NCO displayed great courage and devotion to duty in laying telephone wires between Battalion Headquarters and forward companies, always under heavy shell fire and often exposed to machine gun fire from the front and right flank. He showed an utter disregard for his own safety. He laid over a thousand yards of wire over very exposed country to a company which had gone forward to the Canal. It was entirely owing to his gallant efforts that touch with all companies was maintained throughout the night.'
