Military Medal

'On the 26th August 1918 near Bapaume. When the battery was advancing into action, the road was being heavily shelled and two of the horses of his team were hit. This NCO's quick action and coolness undoubtedly saved further casualties. Throughout the day his coolness and bravery under heavy shell fire set a fine example to the rest of his men, and ensured good fire discipline being maintained.'
