'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack on the Belle Vue Ridge on 12th October when all his Company Officers were killed and all non commissioned officers were casualties Corporal Parker took command of, and reorganised the remaining men, at that time less than thirty. He made several attempts to get through the enemy wire, and showed absolute disregard for danger, and handled his men with remarkable coolness.'
