Military Medal 'On October 12th 1917 near Winnipeg Crossroads north east of St Julien during heavy fire he did excellent work in assisting to remove a field gun which was stuck in a shell hole on the road. He showed conspicuous ability and displayed great coolness and bravery. His splendid example of bravery gave confidence to all the men.'
