Mentioned in Despatches

'During the period 28th February to 20th September 1917 this officer has displayed great ability and the utmost devotion to duty as a Company Commander. At Messines, on 7th June 1918, he was in command of the Company which captured the objective on the right of the Battalion frontage. He directed his company with great skill, and though wounded on 7th June, remained on duty in an exposed position under continuous and heavy shell fire until the Battalion came out of the line on 10th June, when he was evacuated. The success of his Company was chiefly due to his fine leadership in action and to the great ability with which it was trained. He set a fine example of courage and endurance.'
