Military Cross 'During the operations at Foret de Mormal, 5th November, 1918, he displayed great courage and devotion to duty. The advance was a long one an communication was difficult, but he organised a visual and telephone system and supervised the works,
going out and mending the wires himself under very heavy shell fire.'
