Military Cross 'During an attack the platoon on the flank where this officer was in support was held up by the fire of a machine gun. He at once grasped the situation, and, leading two men forward in face of very heavy fire, he bombed the machine gun and captured it, putting the crew out of action. The advance then proceeded. His gallantry and rapid initiative were conspicuous, and his action was productive of valuable results.'
