Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on the Passchendaele Ridge on the 12th October 1917. This Rifleman was a Runner
attached to Battalion Headquarters, and did very valuable work, carrying messages under intense machine gun, and at times, heavy shell fire. He was constantly employed from 6am to 9pm when he was severely wounded, working throughout that time in the forward part of the battle area. His gallantry, devotion, and contempt for danger were most marked.'
