Proceeded overseas to France, 28 August 1916; joined 1nst Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 22 September 1916. Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 8 February 1917 (mumps), and transferred same day to No 7 General Hospital, St Omer; rejoined Bn, in the field, 4 March 1917. Wounded in action, 28 May 1917 (gun shot wound, left shoulder), and admitted to No 10 Australian Field Ambulance; discharged to Reinforcements Camp, Morbecque, 31 May 1917; rejoined Bn, 24 June 1917. Killed in action, 12 October 1917. Burial reported by Burial Officer, 2nd Anzac Burial Corps, 19 November 1917; grave subsequently lost. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
