Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When advancing through Ruyaulcourt on the 4th September 1918, Corporal Noonan displayed great resource and tactical ability in directing the scouts, of whom he was in charge, and outflanking the nests of enemy machine guns, securing their capture before they were able to bring any fire to bear. Later in the advance he took command of a
platoon when the senior NCOs, became casualties and pushing forward secured a good tactical position which he consolidated. Subsequently he patrolled the flanking area and secured connection with the adjoining Battalion. His work has been very reliable and secures the confidence of his men.'
