Mentioned in Despatches 'For devotion to duty and good services as dresser in Advanced Dressing Station at Ploegsteert Wood from July 4th to August 27th 1917. He showed a splendid example to other men by his untiring and unselfish devotion to duty under heavy bombardments, and when his fellow dressers had been killed and wounded. He has always done excellent work.'
