Wounded in action, 8 June 1917 (gun shot wound, jaw), and admitted to 9th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; to 32nd Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 8 June 1917; to England, 11 June 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton on Thames; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 16 July 1917; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 18 August 1917.

Transferred to NZ Machine Gun Corps, 5 November 1917, and marched in to Machine Gun Depot, Grantham.

Proceeded overseas to France, 29 March 1918; joined 3rd NZ Entrenching Bn, in the field, 12 April 1918.

Transferred to NZ Machine Gun Bn, joined Bn, and posted to D Company, 31 August 1918.

Killed in action, 13 September 1918.
