Military Medal 'Battalion Stretcher Bearer. For gallantry and good work during the attack on Messines on 7th June, 1917. He fearlessly exposed himself under the heaviest fire, attending to wounded until he himself was badly hit. His work has always been of the highest merit, and he was recommended for his good work at the Somme in September 1916, and again at an enemy raid at Ploegsteert in February 1917.'
