Meritorious Service Medal 'This N.C.O. has been employed continuously as Battalion Orderly Room staff Sergeant since October 1917, has throughout has shown great ability and particular devotion to duty, frequently under trying conditions. Both his efficiency and regardlessness of self, which have many times prompted him to work many hours at a time, without sleep, are a splendid example to those under him. The trying but extremely important work of keeping Orderly Room routine-work up to date during the recent operations E & W of Bapaume, in which constant movement of Battalion Headquarters was taking place, was efficiently carried out by this N.C.O., whose excellent work was of the greatest value to the Battalion.'
