Medals |
Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In an attack on Vaucelles on 29th September 1918, during the consolidation of the newly captured position, he
discovered that there was a gap in the line. He at once took his platoon out and gained touch with the flank. To do this he had to cross very open country swept continually by machine gun fire but he accomplished his task and throughout the remainder of the night visited his posts and by his splendid example encouraged his men. His skill and initiative saved a very difficult position.'
