Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This man, a Company runner, carried messages during the attack on the Belle Vue Ridge on 12th October under
particularly heavy machine gun and enemy artillery fire. He showed the greatest contempt for danger, and his skill in finding his way across the swamps and bogs during the night was most marked.'
