Bronze Medal (Italy) 'Switch Line south east of High Wood. On September 15th 1916 during the advance on the Switch Trench this man, a stretcher bearer, did exceptionally gallant work. Although badly wounded soon after leaving our trench, he went on with his Company, dressing the wounded and putting them in shell holes for safety. He went right through the assault on the Crest and Switch Trenches and refused to become a casualty as long as he could move.'
