Military Medal 'For bravery and devotion to duty on night of September 18th 1916. Private Morgan was employed as a guide to a working party of his Company which was to dig a new communication trench through to the front line at Grid Support which had only been captured a few hours previously. He was left as a marker on his Company's sector of ground and remained there in spite of heavy shelling for over an hour until his Company arrived after having been delayed by a block on the road up ahead caused by a relief of troops in firing line. His behaviour throughout the night was very good and a fine example to his Company.'
