Military Medal 'For good work and devotion to duty. Since arriving on the Somme, and especially since the 15th September for repeated quick and efficient work single-handed, owing to casualty to other Fitter. When a whole detachment was casualtied on 15th September, he formed a new one and carried on, although he was slightly wounded.'
