Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations at Grevillers on 24th August and Bancourt on 31st August. He was of the highest value to his platoon and company commanders, in consolidating the captured posts very ably. He also did splendid work in getting captured enemy machine guns in working order and organising crews for the same. His zeal and gallantry were admirable.'
