Military Cross 'For consistent good work and gallantry in the field. On four different occasions guns in the battery (LTM) have burst while in action and it was owing to his energy, foresight and care that no casualties occurred. By his splendid example and devotion to duty his guns always completed their programme in spite of heavy retaliation from the enemy's artillery. His work was specially good when co-operating with the raid carried out on the 21st February 1917, when careful preparation and energetic action contributed in a very large measure to the success of the enterprise. This officer also did consistently good work during the Somme Operations.'
