'For gallantry and devotion to duty. During the first fortnight of April 1917, Captain Molloy carried out valuable reconnaissances every other night into "No Man's Land" between Wulverghem and Messines, penetrating into the enemy's front line and bringing back valuable information for the Divisional Staff. As a result of his careful work the Division was able to push forward assembly trenches well in front of our old line. For this work Captain Molloy traced the line under constant shelling and machine gun fire. Again during the Battle of Messines on the 7th of June Captain Molloy led his company forward with the utmost gallantry and captured the Moulin de l'hospice, and it was during the consolidation of this strong point that he was severely wounded while setting a splendid example to his men under very heavy shell fire.'
