Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of a party carrying gas material to the front line. Though two previous parties had failed
owing to heavy machine gun fire and shelling, he succeeded by good organisation in accomplishing the work in specified time with very few casualties. Although slightly gassed, he remained at work until he had completed his task.'
