Military Medal 'During the attack on Messines on 7th June 1917, this N.C.O. did splendid work in laying out wire and maintaining communications to Advance Brigade Headquarters and to the Battalion on our right. We had many breaks and in all cases without hesitation he, with Private Messenger, went out and mended them; most times under heavy shellfire from enemy, and it was mostly due to L/Cpl Minnis that good communication was kept up.'
