Mention in Despatches 'For conspicuous bravery and self sacrifice. In the Boutillerie Sector on the night of 22nd/23rd December 1916, after our raiding party had returned to our trenches, Rifleman Milne volunteered to return to the enemy's parapet to rescue a wounded man who was in danger of being taken prisoner. This he did and was mortally wounded while bringing his wounded comrade through the enemy's wire.' Awarded, and promulgated, 'London Gazette' i June 1917. |
