Military Medal 'For gallantry on 13th October 1917 near St Julien. When his Battery was caught in an enemy area shoot he remained to direct his personnel to places of safety, which he successfully accomplished, thereby showing a marked sense of duty, and setting an excellent example under most trying circumstances.'
