Source: London Gazette Date: Mentioned in Despatches 'February 26th to September 20th, 1917. A good fighting officer. Prior to operations against La Basse was in command of 15th Battery. He carried out wire cutting operations from a forward observation post under heavy and continuous hostile fire, and was thanked by the Infantry Commander for the excellent way in which the wire had been cut. For five hours before zero on the night of the attack, his battery was shelled continuously with gas and 5.9" shell; communications were twice out, but he succeeded in reestablishing communication and supporting the
attack.'
