Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took command of his company in an attack when the company commander was wounded, and led them to the
capture of their objective. He consolidated the position under heavy shell fire and gave early information of an enemy counter attack, which was accordingly completely broken up by the artillery. He showed great courage and initiative.'
