Military Medal 'Action in front of Belle Vue Spur, West of Passchendaele, 12th October 1917 and following days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This man was employed as a Battalion Runner, and in that occupation he rendered services which were invaluable. Although wounded on 12th October, he carried on his duties without reporting to the Medical Officer, and even when the operation was over
he remained at duty. His total disregard for his personal safety, and his cheerfulness set a splendid example to everyone concerned.'
