Mentioned in Despatches

'Operations Messines, 8th June 1917, and operations opposite Warenton, 14th June 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During an exceptionally heavy bombardment this non commissioned officer showed great courage and skill in carrying out a relief of his two guns. Later, in the Operations for the capture of the Au Chasseur Gabaret, when his section officer had been wounded, he took command of the section, and despite an intense enemy barrage, succeeded in placing his guns to great advantage and maintained his position during an ensuing heavy bombardment.'
