Military Medal

'For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field during operations extending from 27.7.18 to 29.8.18. Throughout the whole of this period he has shown great skill and gallantry in the handling of his section. Particularly at the time of the Battalion's entry into Bapaume this NCO, who was in charge of two sections, led his men brilliantly in the face of heavy enemy machine gun and shell fire and succeeded in establishing posts in forward positions which later were supported by other sections and proved of immense value in subsequent operations. His leadership and disregard of personal safety throughout have been of a very high order and have served as an inspiration to his men.'
