Military Medal 'On 27/9/18 after the attack on Grid Trench, Sgt Bell, by his courage and devotion to duty, though twice buried by earth from shellfire, stuck to his work and encouraged his sections to dig and consolidate part of the position he commanded after it was taken. He has shown marked ability to lead the platoon of which he was in command temporarily and has shown a fine example to all ranks by his untiring energy.'
