Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field at Briastre on 12th October 1918. This man on account of casualties, was left in command of his
section, and displayed fine powers of leadership. He advanced to his objective and with two men only of his section left, commenced the works of consolidation. He stoutly resisted several minor attacks and held on until reinforced.'
