London Gazette 'Operations, West of Bapaume, 25th August 1918. For gallant conduct and devotion to duty. After gaining the objective this soldier showed great
determination and fearlessness in carrying the wounded back under heavy shell fire. He worked continuously for over twenty hours, during which time he also removed wounded from other units, and who had been lying out 48 hours. His work during the operations showed very high devotion to duty.'
