Promoted Corporal and retained rank, and then relinquished rank, of Temporary Sergeant, 1 March 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 1 March 1917; joined 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in ther field, 21 May 1917, and posted to 14th Company. Appointed Temporary Sergeant, 30 July 1917. Detached to 2nd Brigade demonstration Platoon, 11 August 1917. Promoted Sergeant, 29 September 1917. Killed in action, 12 October 1917. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
