Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 2nd September 1918, in the operations about Haplincourt, Private McKay carried messages from Company Headquarters to Platoons in outpost positions. The enemy machine gun and snipers' fire were extremely heavy in this locality, nevertheless this soldier carried out his duties with great promptness regardless of personal danger.'
