Military Medal 'Operations British front in the vicinity of the Foret de Mormal, 5th November 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the above operations, Private McKay who is a sniper, was attached to a Company for the day. Throughout the whole advance he rendered great service by going forward and locating enemy
machine guns and posts, and bringing back information which brought about their capture. All day, under the most trying conditions, he carried on and was of the utmost value to his Company Commander, besides being instrumental in saving the lives of men. His coolness was remarkable, and the example he showed to all had far reaching effects.'
