Military Cross 'During ten days heavy fighting, which led to the capture of an important position and surrounding villages, he was acting as adjutant to the battalion. He displayed the greatest energy and disregard of danger, superintending under heavy fire all details of assembly and of the occupation of positions as they were established. He displayed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.'
