Source: London Gazette Date: Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This man was a Company Runner during the action near Hebuterne on 27th March 1918. He made many trips through heavy machine gun fire with messages from Company Headquarters to Platoons which were cut off from the Company. By his utter disregard for danger and his fearlessness he maintained touch during a most difficult operation. He was finally severely wounded while in charge of a carrying party which was taking forward S.A.A. when the situation was critical.'
