Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations in the vicinity of Esnes on the 8th October 1918, Corporal McDougall acted as leader of a section. Working well ahead through enemy machine gun and rifle fire, he was able to send back valuable information to his platoon commander, thus materially helping forward the advance; and by locating enemy machine guns and posts he saved many casualties to his Company. In the operations on the 10th October he did equally good work, particularly when the left flank of his Company was exposed and throughout set a fine example of courage and initiative.'
