Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his patrol with exceptional ability, and completed the task entrusted to him with thoroughness and rapidity. He has on all occasions shown himself to be a fine leader of men, and his coolness and vigorous energy has set a splendid example to his platoon, especially at times when casualties were heavy and their task a difficult one.'
