Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Crevecouer on 30th September 1918 he was one of the Company runners, Throughout the day he was carrying
messages to the platoon and to Battalion Headquarters over areas swept by machine gun fire and across bridges which were entirely exposed to the enemy
snipers, machine guns and artillery. He showed the greatest courage.'
