'During the period 17th September to 31st of December 1918, this NCO has done excellent work in the organisation of his detachment for all engagements in which the Battery has taken part. The gun under his command has been kept in excellent order, and his emplacements excellent built. He has always been most particular in the examination and storing of his ammunition. In addition he has led his detachment with great initiative and courage while in action, being three times unsuccessfully recommended for the Military Medal.'
